Manasu Girl Children Home

For more than 10 years Manasu home is providing care and support to girls who are orphans or come from a difficult and abusive family background. The home provides many facilities like safe stay, education, vocational training etc. The center believes that home care is the best care and tries to integrate the family back to child. However, in cases where children could not integrate back to home because of vulnerable or abusive situation at home or the absence of caretakers. In such situations, the home provides education and vocational training support to the girl child.

Manasu Home is located in Visakhapatnam and has got good recognition and reputation in the city. It continues to be the only girl care center which provides care and support exclusively for girls. The centre has capacity to accommodate up to 45 children.Currently 30 children are going to different schools in the neighbourhood. The home is also supporting college education of 5 children. Every year we integrate about 10 children back to home.

About 10 years back, , Sravani father died because of excessive drinking. As a result her mother got deeply depressed, and went away somewhere. Nobody knows where she went. She was referred to Manasu by railway police. Sravanthi started going to a nearby school. Though she never went to school before, she did not give up. She was joined in 5th class but sometimes she has to sit in 1st class because she does not know how to write or read. She did not give up hope and worked hard. She got 90% marks in 10th class. Her amazing journey did not stop there. She got a polytechnic seat in a top college and finished her course successful. After that she joined in Engineering and now is studying 3rd year. We wish her all the best for a great future.

Keerthana is Back Home

Keerthana is a teenage girl who was in love with a boy. Both of them want to elope and Keerthana left the home. However the boy has not turned up and she was afraid to go back home. So she took the train and came to Visakhapatnam. At the station she was having trouble with auto drivers and the railway police were able to identify her in time. She was referred to Manasu home. She refused to share her parents deails.

At Manasu home she started attending the vocational training course. After few months she has expressed her desire to go back home. One of our social worker went with her to her parents’ house and explained the situation and that she was staying safely in the home and also finished vocational training course. The parents were relieved that she is back home.
